ATT: Bendemeer Pony Club - Help Break a Guinness World Record
Lisa Teixeira, Monday, 26 July 2010
Dear Pony Club Members
I have today been contacted by Faith Dixon, Secretary of Bendemeer Pony Club.
She has advised that Bendemeer Public School is celebrating its 150th Anniversary on the weekend of 31 July and 1 August 2010. On the Saturday morning there will be a street parade and official ceremony at the school from 11am. One of the key aims of the day is to focus on the importance of the school pony in years gone by as the main means of transport and they have invited all pony club members and their horses to be involved.
If you would like to participate in the parade, you are more than welcome to join them. They are attempting to break the existing Guinness World Record for the most kids on ponies at a school and a photographic memento of the day will be taken with all the participants. Horses and riders will be assembling on Caroline Street opposite the Police Station (past the Pub) at approx 10.30am.
Any enquiries can be directed to Robert Clement on 67696473 or 0427 615756.
For the history buffs, you may be interested to know that Bendemeer also had the first gazetted “school pony paddock” in NSW.
On the Sunday there will be a Horse Extravaganza at the rodeo ground with various horse exhibitions and business displays to see. All Welcome both days!
Melissa Penrose
Zone 5 Secretary
