Pony Club of the Month - SHOALHAVEN PONY CLUB SHOALHAVEN PONY CLUB (Zone 28) is the Club of the Month for APRIL. The Club has won themselves $1,000 worth of product from Horseland. This prize includes dressage cones, lunging equipment, bandages, books, training aids and other exciting resources. The products within the prize packs have been selected as they can be used as training tools within the club. The packs are designed to assist clubs improve their resources to benefit members. We have had a number of outstanding entries over the last few months, which makes selecting a winner very hard. Congratulations to all clubs who have entered the competition since its inception over 18 months ago - you attend very inspiring clubs! We look forward to receiving more exciting entries this month. We would like to nominate Shoalhaven Pony Club for Pony Club of the month. Shoalhaven Pony club is part of Zone 28. We hold our rally days on the 2nd & 4th Sunday each month at our Club grounds at the Worrigee Equestrian Common, on the outskirts of Nowra. We are extremely fortunate to also have access to a wonderful cross country course on a neighbouring property owned by former Equestrian Olympic medallist, and club patron, Mr Mervyn Bennett. Currently we have 42 junior riding members ranging in age from 2yrs to 20yrs. This includes 8 families of second generation pony clubbers. It’s great to see so many parents that have gone through pony club return to give their children the same opportunity & experience. Shoalhaven Pony Club offers a varied & interesting program. Our senior instructor Jen, also a former Shoalhaven Pony Club rider and Keith Lowe award recipient, ensures that there is something for every level of rider. Last year we even ran an ODE with led dressage, and poles included on the cross country & jumping phases to allow all members the chance to participate. We have some very committed parents that make our days at pony club enjoyable & run smoothly. Our activities include showjumping, cross country, dressage, sporting, mounted games, trail rides, certificate work & horsemanship, polocrosse, equine soccer & mini trotters. We have an annual sleepover that is always well attended, with many parents looking forward to this event as much as their children. Last year, a successful chocolate drive allowed us to have Anne Beringer attend. Shoalhaven Pony Club have had members represent our Club at many State events including Dressage, Showjumping, Equitation, Sporting, Mounted Games, Eventing & the Sydney Royal, in both the Area Showjumping Team & the Team of 4’s. As a club we aim to encourage good sportsmanship & reward our riders for their personal achievements no matter how big or small. We have a very community spirited club & our members are often taking care of one another. Sharing horses, gear & transport, leading or assisting riders where needed, making sure all riders make it to a class on time. Most importantly making sure ALL the kids are safe, involved & having fun! Our club spirit was highlighted at last year’s Zone 28 Jamboree where we won both the Best Presented Club on Parade and the Club Musical Ride. Over the years we have watched so many of our riders grow & mature, they have improved in their riding skills & knowledge of horses. It has been an honour to be apart of the Shoalhaven Pony Club family.
